Applications for admission to the program will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis but must be received by July 1 for Fall admission and February 1 for Summer Admission.

Summer, Fall

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

M.A. Application requirements
• Complete an online Application for Graduate Study
• Hold an earned baccalaureate from an institution of higher education accredited by a JMU-recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency, or international equivalent with verified official transcripts.
• Have a minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale in baccalaureate study.
• Submit official transcript from all institutions attended

The Department of Kinesiology requires applications to satisfy additional requirements

• Two letters of recommendation
• A personal statement
• Verification of a US-based teaching license
