In order to provide quality programs, activities, resources and advocacy, JMU has instituted an international student fee which will be assessed to all F and J visa holding students enrolled in full-time graduate JMU courses. This $100 fee is posted on each student's bill by the University Business Office every fall and spring semster.
James Madison University requires all students and scholars on an F or J visa to have health insurance coverage. International Student & Scholar Services offers a comprehensive health insurance plan through Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). Learn more about health insurance.

Students who are awarded assistantships typically receive substantcial funding to assist in covering tuition and living expenses.
Living Expenses & Visa Requirements: Living expenses for graduate students are estimated at $13,000 per year. International students must verify they have all educational and living expenses available for the first 12 months in the US to obtain a visa.
