Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

Required by Program
  • Two-three page essay: describe relevant work, life experiences, and professional goals related to TESOL and assisting English language learners
  • Video upload answering the following: 1) Briefly describe why you are interested in the JMU Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in the TESOL program, 2) What are your career aspirations upon completing your master's degree?, 3) What strengths will you bring to our program?
  • Two professional references
  • Professional Resume
  • Informal interview (in person, Skype, OR phone) 
  • Applicants should have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better
  • GRE General Test or Miller Analogies Test is required for all students who do not meet the following condition: an undergraduate GPA of 3.0
