Innovation Leader

Nikki Shawn is a music education major at James Madison University. She has worked on many inclusion projects, including serving as a special project assistant for the first Disability Studies and Music Education Symposium and facilitating instrumental workshops at the Gemeinschaft Home in Harrisonburg, and will be working with AMPLIFIY (A Music Performance Learning Initiative for Incarcerated Youth) as a Music Mentor and Class Facilitator. Nikki has also led community engagement events such as JMUke, and currently leads the JMU Jam Van project, a mobile musical experience. She is thrilled to continue her work in inclusion and engagement with CIME and plans to do research into the role of music programs at recovery high schools around the country.
