Professor Imelda O’Reilly is Assistant Professor in the School of Media Arts and Design where she teaches courses on film. O’Reilly is an Irish immigrant and a female filmmaker, and is conscientious about representing diversity both inside and outside the classroom. Professor O’Reilly has lived on four continents: Europe, Africa, North America and Asia. She had a Fulbright to shoot a film in Morocco on the Aid El K’bir. O’Reilly encourages all of her students to apply for the overseas programs at JMU and explore different cultures and ethnicities. Fostering a cross-cultural exchange is a key part of any individual’s education and a crucial component in shaping global perspectives and awareness.
