Bob Golson joined the UREC team in 1998 and is currently the Associate Director for Facilities. Bob oversees facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, capital improvements and Risk Management. He also serves as liaison with JMU Athletics, Kinesiology Department, Facilities Management and Aramark.

Bob graduated from Florida State University (B.S., '93) with a double major in Political Science and Criminology. He received his master's degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University (M.S., '98) in Miami, Florida. Bob is a lifetime member of NIRSA, Leaders in Collegiate Recreation. Bob is a 2020 JMU All Together One award recipient, 2020 NIRSA Foundation Leadership award recipient and recognized for his service to the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices and the JMU Duke Club.

Bob grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Donna, since May of 2008. Bob and Donna are the proud grandparents of four boys, Jaiden (19), Kannon (4), Ashton (4) and Quinton (1). Bob and Donna are very close with their nephew, Jeremy (22), and niece, Amanda (20), who are both past Camp UREC participants.

Bob enjoys spending his free time playing golf, traveling and attending concerts. Bob's favorite activity to participate in at UREC is playing Pickleball. His favorite things about UREC are the committed student employees and the hard working UREC Housekeepers. His favorite movies are Remember the Titans, A Few Good Men and The Blind Side. His favorite show is Yellowstone and his favorite music artists are Bruce Hornsby, Zac Brown Band and Chris Stapleton. His favorite quote is "Never let the urgent get in the way of the important" by Kay Yow.
