Information for International Students

International students and U.S. students living abroad are welcome to attend Summer Springboard in June or July but are not expected to attend. However, if you are in the United States and are able to attend, freshmen and transfer students should reserve a Summer Springboard date.  To reserve a date and to complete important JMU business, first-year students please visit the One Book website and transfer students please visit the Transfer One Book website. Whether or not you are able to attend Summer Springboard, you need to complete the Orientation reservation step – even to let us know that you are unable to attend.

International students (on a F-1 and J-1 visa) must attend Transitions - our international student orientation program held in August. Transitions will address immigration requirements for maintaining your temporary status.

All other visa holders and U.S. citizens living abroad are encouraged and welcomed to attend. Information regarding health insurance, the classroom experience, campus safety, transportation and resources for international students will be provided. Attending Transitions is a great opportunity to make new friends and get answers to your questions before participating in 1787 August Orientation.
