Are job interviews being conducted in-person or online?

Each hiring manager is responsible for arranging their own interviews. JMU cares about the health and safety of our employees, students and visitors. Many departments are currently conducting interviews online. However, if a department conducts in-person interviews we encourage you to follow social distancing protocols during your interview (don’t shake hands, sit 6 feet apart, etc.).

What is best practice for interviewing during the COVID-19 outbreak?

During this time search committees should be flexible and are encouraged to find alternatives to in-person interviews such as Microsoft Teams or WebEx.

If a search committee must conduct in-person interviews they should follow social distancing protocols. Limit the number of people in the room, don’t shake hands, reserve a larger conference room that will allow people to sit 6-feet apart and make sure your interview space is cleaned and have hand sanitizer available if possible. Please contact your Recruitment Specialist if you have additional questions.
