Application Deadline

Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year will open September 1. February 15 is the deadline to be guaranteed consideration for admissions and graduate assistantships. Thereafter, applications will be reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis through May 20.

Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

  • Personal statement
  • Statement of language proficiency & prior international experience
  • Curriculum vitae or professional resume
  • Two current recommendation letters from professors qualified to judge the applicant's ability to complete graduate studies.
  • Applicants must submit a writing sample that showcases their ability to carry out academic and/or policy-relevant research. This example should be 5 pages or longer in single-spaced formatting and 10 pages or longer in double-spaced formatting.

The Political Science, European Union Policy Studies program, does not qualify for a student visa.
