Applications for the 2018-2019 academic year are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

  • Personal statement
  • Statement of language proficiency
  • Statement of policy interest
  • Curriculum vitae or professional resume
  • Two current letters of recommendation from professors, employers, and other professionals qualified to judge the applicant's ability to complete graduate studies.
Test Requirements

Applicants must either (a) upload a writing sample (within the online application) that showcases their ability to carry out academic and/or policy-relevant research or (b) submit official GRE scores (institution code 5392).
