KDU Students visiting JMU
JMU is excited to partner with KyungDong University (KDU) in South Korea.
Since launching in September 2024, JMU has welcomed 10+ cohorts of KDU students through this innovative, recurring eight-week program and is preparing to welcome even more cohorts. Through English classes, regional excursions, campus tours, and opportunities to observe JMU classes, KDU students experience American culture and life at JMU firsthand.
In this program, students receive credit from their home university and not JMU directly. KDU assesses their students based on English skill level, improved confidence in English language, and cultural and personal adaptability to the new environment.
While at JMU, KDU students enjoy trips to: Washington, D.C., Luray Caverns, the Frontier Culture Museum, and other local attractions, along with visits to local farmers' markets and hikes in Shenandoah National Park. Students also enjoy getting involved in campus life by using UREC, dining at D-Hall and E-Hall, attending JMU sporting events, and observing classes related to their academic majors.
We look forward to the opportunity to grow this unique short-term study abroad program at JMU and increase global connectivity on and off campus. If you are interested in learning more about the program or involving KDU students in your classes or other activities, please contact glp@jmu.edu for more information.
