✦ Association of Supply Chain Management (APICS)

Association of Supply Chain Management (formerly APICS) is the leading provider of research, education and certification programs that foster supply chain excellence, innovation and resilience.

The organization holds student competitions to promote education and interest in the supply chain management profession.

Students have opportunities to compete in national competitions, participate in company visits, and connect with professional members working in the supply chain field.

Collegiate DECA is a student driven organization that values competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.  DECA prepares students for careers by integrating skills learned in the classroom into real world experiences.  Collegiate DECA programs assist in developing academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.  DECA students major in a variety of academic programs with a strong focus on business-related fields. Collegiate DECA conferences and other activities give students unique access to internships, scholarships, competitions, and professional networking.

★ Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), Beta Upsilon Chapter

Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE) is a national honorary and professional management organization for students planning careers in the management field.  SIE encourages and recognizes academic achievement and scholarship in management while promoting collaboration between the academic and practical aspects of management. Our activities include hosting and participating in Department of Management events, networking opportunities with management professionals and presentations by business leaders.

Qualifications for membership include a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate an interest in the management field. Students interested in joining SIE also must have completed at least one year (30 hours) at JMU, and completed at least one management with a grade of “B” or better.

✦ Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

SHRM provides students interested in a career in human resource management the opportunity to develop and explore their career interest outside of the classroom. Presentations by human resource professionals on cutting edge issues and practices. SHRM offers a variety of activities, including:

  • Company tours to see HRM practices in operation
  • Workshops on key HRM topics
  • Shadow Days with local professionals
  • Internships
  • Social events with peers and business professionals
  • Resume and interview preparation and critique with practicing professionals
