Class of 2029

Minors: Geography and Honors

Why did you become an ambassador? Because I love both being a part of the ISAT community and socializing with people. Becoming an ambassador for the program felt natural because it combined two things I enjoyed, so I get to talk to people and encourage them to join the ISAT community I have become part of.

Why did you choose ISAT? I loved STEM but didn't know exactly which field of study I wanted to dedicate myself to. Then, on my first tour of JMU, I sat in on an ISAT panel and saw how flexible and choice-oriented the major was. The major's flexibility and the interesting concentrations drew me to ISAT.

What do you enjoy most about ISAT? I enjoy the broad range of topics I get to explore as an ISAT major the most. The amount of new information I learn and the opportunities I get to apply them in each of my classes are some of the best aspects of the program.

What is your favorite class or project? ISAT 171 with Dr. York - Governance of Sociotechnical Systems. It opened up an entirely new and interesting side of science to me that I had never even considered before.

Who has been an influential professor, mentor, or advisor? Dr. Bachmann and Paul Henriksen are two of the first ISAT professors I connected with. Since then i have continued to reach out and talk with them whenever I have any questions, concerns, or just topics that I want to talk about.

What clubs, student organizations, or activities are you involved in? I am currently a Brother in JMU's chapter of Theta Tau, a member of the Club Table Tennis team, and an active member of the JMU Honors College.

What is something you love to do outside of class? Hang out with friends, go on hikes, and play volleyball

What is your favorite spot on campus? The Arboretum

Describe your JMU experience in three words: Social, New, Fun

What advice would you give to a prospective student? Make sure you balance school and fun well. Make sure you keep up with your classes and make time for yourself. Don't burn yourself out.
