Fast Flex BSN StudentThe BSN–Fast Flex pathway requires a secondary application. Admission to the pathway is competitive. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Apply for Conditional Admission

(Admission is conditional upon meeting all admission requirements).

Applications for admission are accepted once per calendar year. The application is open for the summer 2026 cohort February 16 through March 6, 2026. Applications and all application materials (transcripts and verification forms) are due by March 6, 2026.

Official* transcripts must be submitted electronically to The JMU School of Nursing using the following email address: BSN-FastFlex@jmu.edu.

JMU transcripts do not have to be submitted. Transcripts that are emailed pdfs or scanned copies will not be accepted.

The following are required to apply for admission to the BSN–Fast Flex Pathway:

  • Enrolled at JMU
  • B.S.N. declared major
  • One full-time semester at JMU completed (by the end of the semester of application)
  • 36 credit hours completed (by the end of the semester of application)
  • Earn a minimum grade of “C-” in prerequisite courses and maintain a minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.0
  • General Education “Madison Foundations” – one Critical Thinking and one Human Communication course
  • One of the two biology course sequences: BIO 270/BIO 270L or BIO 290/BIO 290L
  • PSYC 160

In addition to pre-requisite course GPA of 3.0 and a letter grade of “C-“ or better for each pre-requisite course, we also consider the following:

  • Experiences: ROTC, work experience, and community service
  • An essay of no more than 500 words to address a prompt that demonstrates students’ commitment to the values of the School of Nursing

Verification Forms for BSN–Fast Flex Application:

Entry to the BSN–Fast Flex Pathway is conditional upon meeting the following criteria:

After receiving Conditional Acceptance, the remaining pre-requisite courses must be completed by the end of Spring 2026:

  • 48 credit hours completed
  • Maintain a minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.00
  • Earn a minimum grade of “C-” in the remaining prerequisite courses:
    • NUTR 280
    • MATH 220
    • CHEM 120
    • BIO 245/BIO 245L
    • Complete remaining biology course: BIO 270/BIO 270L or BIO 290/BIO 290L

Admission Appeal

Qualified applicants who are declined admission may submit a formal appeal. The appeal should provide evidence of extenuating circumstances that affect academic performance. Full information on the appeal process can be found at this link: Information on Admission Appeal 

Technical Standards
