Rising Stars Endowment in the Arts supporting Undergraduate Professional Development in the College of Visual and Performing Arts

Description An endowed scholarship established by The Charles Daniel Curtis, Jr. ('82) Family. This scholarship will provide funds annually to support undergraduate students who engage in pre-professional performances, exhibits or research outside of JMU and may be used to support student attendance at a national/international forum, conference or competition. As to the selection of students as Rising Stars Scholars, the appointments shall be made each year by the Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts in consultation with the Directors of the three Schools within the College. The Donors' only specific criteria is that students considered for this award shall have demonstrated academic excellence and a competitive drive to develop professional experience (as reflected in recommendations provided by faculty members on behalf of candidates).

Undergraduate Professional Development Awards

The College of Visual and Performing Arts at James Madison University offers Undergraduate Professional Development Awards of up to $2,000 to stimulate and advance undergraduate students’ creative or scholarly agendas or assist in developing their service activities. Each award is given with the understanding that the recipient will devote enough time and energy to ensure successful completion of the project.

Valley Business Keynote Entrepreneurship in the Arts and Design Scholarship 

Valley Business Keynote is a group of local business leaders who seek to help area entrepreneurs fulfill their potential by bringing guest speakers to share their success stories. 

The VBK Entrepreneurship in the Arts and Design Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate visual or performing arts major at JMU. It specifically supports entrepreneurial projects that focus on the arts and 1.) has a business component (non-profit or for profit, 2.) develops a product and/or service, and 3.) conforms to entrepreneurial best practices.  AMOUNT: $1,000
