Sean Khuon-Paige is a natural.
He credits JMU with showing him the way to channel his gifts into a nice living.
The Portland, Oregon resident and 2019 JMU graduate is making a name for himself as a freelance director of photography these days. Showcase projects include work on the Serena Williams Design Crew documentary “where we follow a bunch of under-represented designers hired by Nike to design the Serena Williams fashion line,” he says.
Khuon-Paige landed that gig thanks to a contact he made earlier—a practice drilled into him during his JMU days.
“JMU taught me a lot about the power of networking,” he says. “Especially in the film industry, you don’t really apply for jobs. It’s about who you know."
Being talented helps, too, of course. Khuon-Paige, a self-proclaimed lover of being behind any camera since childhood, applauds JMU’s hands-on approach with helping him polish his craft.
Adds Khuon-Paige, “JMU was an amazing experience for me.”
