Spyware Manual Removal

In addition to downloading and running anti-spyware utilities such as SpyBot, you may need to manually remove some spyware and/or unnecessary programs. First, boot the computer into Safe Mode (by pressing F8 as the computer begins to boot up). Next, go to Start, Programs and if you see any programs which are not needed or are potential spyware, check to see if they have a built in "uninstaller" you can use to uninstall the program. If so, run it. Next, open the Control Panel, open Add/Remove Programs and remove any potentially harmful software.  If in doubt, do not remove any software!  Instead, contact the JMU Computing HelpDesk for further information.
