Dr. Naomi Bates is Assistant Director of Research Development at JMU. She holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Princeton University and brings experience in GIS, environmental monitoring, bioacoustics, and hydrology. Prior to her current role, Dr. Bates served as an Associate Professor at Future Generations University, where she conducted research in Nepal, Bolivia, and the USA. She also developed and led courses for a global student body of community development leaders. Naomi is committed to leveraging her diverse multi-sector experience to advance high-quality research across the University.
