In what ways did the JMU Political Science Department prepare you for your career?
The community connections through the MPA program were outstanding for my academic and professional career. I was able to lean into so many different progects and opportunities to enhance and solidify my own learning by taking part in practical, applicable experiences that instilled confidence. The mentorship I received from nearly all of the faculty was also immensely useful in establishing connections and gaining more opportunities to practice my craft. They were kind and patient as I learned, and kept giving me opportunities to support their work and grow my own expertise and connections. This above-and-beyond approach was invaluable to my professional growth.

Highlights of your JMU experience
My relationships and connections with faculty, ability to have honest conversations about the real life needs within the public sector and the opportunity to expand my own thinking, skillset, and interests were vital to where I am today.
