The Office of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices (OSARP) maintains the organizational records for recognized student organizations and student groups, and they are publicly available as outlined in the “Records – Recognized Student Organizations and Student Groups” portion of the Student Handbook. Organizational records are presented in two different tables below:

  • Pending alleged policy violation(s) in the Organizational Accountability Process (the table will only display below if there are recognized student organizations or student groups with pending alleged policy violation(s)
  • Finding(s) and/or outcome(s) that meet the criteria for an organizational record, as outlined in the “Records – Recognized Student Organizations and Student Groups” portion of the Student Handbook
  • “Investigation Initiated” and “Investigation Concluded” in the organizational records below refers to the initiation and conclusion of the process in which alleged misconduct is addressed for a recognized student organization or student group.

The university provides this information publicly so members of the community, including current, prospective, and future members of recognized student organizations and student groups, stay informed regarding organizational records. In addition, § 23.1-819 through § 23.1-822 of the Code of Virginia (Adam’s Law) requires the university to “publicly report actual findings of violations of the institution's code of conduct or of federal or state laws pertaining to hazing that are reported to campus authorities or local law enforcement.” For more information on Adam’s Law and the required hazing prevention training for members of the university community, please visit the Office of Student Life’s website.

Prior to August 2024, the investigation and review of alleged misconduct for recognized student organizations and student groups was conducted by other offices at the university. Organizational records created before August 2024 may display different processes, policies, and/or terminology than outlined in the current Organizational Accountability Process coordinated by OSARP. For organizational records created after August 2024, use the following links for more information:

The organizational records table below will display information for any recognized student organization or student group that has been suspended or expelled from JMU, except for the following who lost recognition prior to OSARP coordinating the Organizational Accountability Process:
