Why 1787?

During August of 1787, James Madison and his fellow delegates met in Philadelphia to rewrite the Articles of Confederation. Fifty-five delegates, four months, and one constitution later, our country was never the same, and after orientation in August, neither will you!

What is 1787?

1787 August Orientation is a three-day-long adventure full of once-in-a-lifetime events that will help prepare you for the academic year, meet new friends, and discover what it feels like to be a member of the JMU community! 1787 is all about introducing you to your new college home and connecting you to resources that will prepare you to be a successful student.
