Virtual Hart School FALL Career & Internship Fair
For Hospitality Management and Sport & Recreation Management Majors

Wednesday, October 28, 2020
11 am - 3:00 pm

We will be hosting our Fall 2020 Hart School Career Fair using a virtual format through Handshake. This decision was made with the safety of our students and employer partners in mind.

Virtual Career Fair Platform

We will be using Handshake’s new virtual career fair platform. We will be continually sharing further resources and training materials with registered attendees to help you and your team adapt successfully to this new format. We appreciate your patience as we learn this new and exciting way to offer virtual career fairs together.

Using the Virtual Handshake Platform

Handshake's Virtual Career Fair platform allows you to create connections with students much in the same way as a traditional in-person Career Fair!

  • Video, audio, and chat communication with students
  • Virtual group meetings (info sessions) with up to fifty students at a time
  • Virtual 1:1 meetings with students (scheduled in advance or after a group session)
  • Build your organization’s brand with Hospitality and Sport & Recreation Management students by sharing your organization’s story and values with them ahead of time

We encourage you to read Handshake’s guide for creating your fair schedule as soon as possible, please also continue to check your email as we will be sharing further resources as they emerge to help your team adapt to this new virtual format. We appreciate your patience, as we are all learning this exciting new way to offer virtual career fairs together.

Please note now that all employer representatives who would like to participate in the fair are required to have their own Handshake account; we recommend securing this detail as early as possible to avoid any logistical issues surrounding approval of your team members’ new accounts. Review Handshake’s guide on creating employer representative accounts for more details, as members of your company already in Handshake will need to approve any new account requests from your teammates.

Interviews

While the virtual fair facilitates informal 1:1 meeting times with students, JMU does offer on-campus interviewing and virtual interviewing options if you would like to schedule more formal follow up interviews with candidates you met during the fair. Feel free to reach out to handshake@jmu.edu for more information on scheduling formal interviews following your fair participation.
