- Harrisonburg is surrounded by many outdoor activities including the Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest. Both of these are located just outside the city and have many hiking and biking trails.
- If you are interested in skiing, snowboarding, tubing and many other activities, Massanutten Resort is located a short drive down Route 33.
- Go Local!
- The Farmer's Market is a great place to purchase local food and handmade gifts. Open Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
- Harrisonburg is home to many local restaurants downtown and around the city. Explore these for great food, and many of the restaurants have happy hour deals making it affordable for students.
- Explore local breweries and wineries located downtown and in the surrounding area.
