Biography
Denise has over 22 years of experience at JMU, with a work background in Sponsored Programs, the Centennial Scholars Program, Orientation, the Center for Faculty Innovation, and currently serves as the Assistant Director in the Office of Faculty Success and as an adjunct faculty for COE courses in Learning, Design and Technology (LDT) and Human Resource Development (HRD). As an assistant director, Denise supports Adjunct Faculty Professional Development, Faculty Success Awards and Programming, and supervises the Fiscal Tech and Administrative Specialist.
In May 2020, Denise earned her Master's of Education in the Educational Technology program at JMU and has transferred these acquired skills and knowledge into managing the creation of instructional videos, educational content, and marketing material for use with the CFI's website, remote and virtual learning, Canvas, and other areas pertinent to supporting professional development and adjunct faculty support efforts at CFI and the Office of Faculty Success.
Her previous education includes a Bachelor of Individualized Study from JMU, where she graduated magna cum laude and received the Pinnacle Honors and the AVP Student of the Year awards through the Adult Degree Program. Denise's concentration blended Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communications; Art; Communication Studies and Learning; Computer Information Systems; and Technology & Leadership Education. Denise also has two associate's degrees in both Computer Science and Business Administration from Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia.
Outside of work, Denise enjoys baking, drawing, beach vacations, and spending quality time with family.
