Mission Statement:
The Office of the State Minister for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs (DMHA) and the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) are the lead agents overseeing all aspects of policy, strategy, programming and operations in relation to disaster risk reduction (DRR), strengthening community-led resilience, responding to and recovering from natural or unnatural disasters. In addition, DMHA has specific responsibilities for coordinating efforts to support IDPs and returnees and to ensure demining activities support enhanced lives and livelihoods for the Afghan people. On behalf of the National Disaster Management Committee, ANDMA manages and coordinates all disaster-related activities in Afghanistan, with the aim of minimizing the impact of disasters on achievement of the country’s strategic development objectives.
