Mission Statement:
The Applied Physics Institute was created in May 1994 to consolidate various activities dealing with elemental characterization using nuclear techniques. Through its life span, several projects have been initiated and are still active, while others have been completed. Its current research activities are funded by the US Department of Defense, the National Science Foundation, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Building on the expertise acquired by its staff, the Institute has progressed from utilizing existing nuclear techniques and instrumentation to developing and building its own equipment.
