Research Interests
Dr. D’Lugos’ research aims to improve our understanding of skeletal muscle responds to challenging stimuli such as exercise, injury, medication, aging, and disease. The goal of Dr. D’Lugos’ research is to advance the development of exercise and/or nutritional strategies for improving skeletal muscle health (size, composition, function) and overall quality of life. To achieve this goal Dr. D’Lugos’ work involves a variety of research techniques, ranging from applied measures of exercise and muscle physiology (i.e. exercise performance tests, isokinetic dynamometry, ultrasound imaging, etc.) to cellular and molecular measures of muscle biology (i.e. tissue microscopy, blood analytes, etc.).
