The Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (PHETE) master’s program is committed to educating future leaders in the profession of teaching physical and health education. Having a quality health and physical education program is key to a child’s intellectual, physical, and social development. The M.A. program provides an avenue for currently licensed teachers to receive graduate level training in health and physical education and add an additional endorsement area. Candidates will be prepared to pass the PRAXIS II and become an effective teacher within physical and health education K-12 programs. 

This M.A. program has classes to enhance the physical and health knowledge of the candidates as well as two concentrations: Curriculum and Assessment or Adapted Physical Education.  Teachers eligible for this program must have to a U.S. based teaching license.  **If you are looking to obtain your Health and Physical Education K-12 teaching license refer to the JMU M.A.T. program.
