Advice for Students: Identify your WHY! Look for the attributes JMU has that meets your needs and goals. Visit and ask questions. JMU considers your academic performance, course rigor, extracurriculars, and personal characteristics. Think about submitting a Personal Statement, it is optional but can help the JMU Admissions Committee understand your goals and values, especially if you're overcoming obstacles.

Current students can offer real insight into campus life, academic expectations, and student involvement. Along with Admissions, I also serve as the advisor for Students for Minority Outreach, a student organization that aids in the recruitment of minority students to JMU through annual recruitment activities. Also, I supervise the Telecenter Program in the Office of Admissions. You may receive a call or email from one of our students throughout the year. We are all here to help you through this process!
