Dr. Linder is a medical and cultural anthropologist with a rank of full professor and over 35 years of professional experience in higher education. Dr. Linder has secured over $26M in external funding. His research has been cited over 5700 times and has been published in such journals as American Ethnologist, American Journal of Preventative Medicine, American Journal of Public Health, Arthritis Care and Research, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Journal of the Philosophy of Sport, Medical Anthropology, Preventative Medicine, Prevention Science, and Teaching Ethics.

Dr. Linder’s previous leadership roles include co-leading a state-wide online education partnership, Associate Provost for Online Strategy, Dean of University Studies, Associate Vice Provost for University Programs, and inaugural Academic Unit Head of Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies.

Dr. Linder holds a PhD and MA in anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
