Lab Assistants

 

Lab Assistants are responsible for the following services:

  • Answering software and hardware questions
  • Assisting with hardware problems
  • Maintaining the printers
  • Referring customers to appropriate person if they cannot answer a question
  • Monitoring the labs to ensure Computing Support policies are being followed

Lab Assistants are not responsible for the following services:

  • Recovering lost files or damaged disks. The HelpDesk provides this service. We recommend that students make frequent backups of their work on more than one diskette, and make periodic printouts of their work.
  • Training students on software packages
  • Helping with class specific software (students will be referred to their instructor)
  • Helping solve class problems (all students are bound by the JMU Honor code)
