The Assessment & Testing Center at JMU (formerly known as the Ashby Lab) is located in the basement of the Ashby Residence Hall. It can be accessed through a small entry door on the ground floor to the right of the main hall steps. The lab provides 102 computer workstations separated into private cubicles and a proctor staff for the administering and monitoring of computer-based tests.
Students needing to take University, department, or course-required assessments such as the MREST can come in during normal hours without an appointment.
Faculty members with limited class time (i.e. online courses, limited-credit courses, etc) may request exams be proctored by the lab staff by sending testing instructions, valid date, and rosters. Please note that tests must be delivered through Blackboard, Canvas or Respondus. Paper tests cannot be administered as we do not have the means to deliver completed exams to faculty.
If you need additional assistance, please contact email@example.com.
Please note: Any communication made after 5pm Friday will be responded to the next business day.
Holds placed on student accounts due to incomplete MREST will be removed automatically once the MREST is passed with a score of 148 or higher. Holds will NOT be temporarily removed, no exceptions. For more information contact General Education at firstname.lastname@example.org.
