How to reset WINSOCK and TCP/IP

 

Windows 8

  1. In Windows 8, if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. If you're using a touch screen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Type cmd in the search box, click or tap Apps, and then click or tap Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator at the bottom of the screen. 
  2. To reset WINSOCK, in the command prompt type netsh winsock reset catalog
  3. Next, to reset TCP/IP, in the command prompt type netsh int ip reset reset.log
  4. Restart computer

 

Windows 7 / Vista

  1. Click start button . In search box type CMD. Right click CMD and choose "Run as Administrator"
  2. To reset WINSOCK, in the command prompt type netsh winsock reset catalog
  3. Next, to reset TCP/IP, in the command prompt type netsh int ip reset reset.log
  4. Restart computer
