Changing Saved Passwords to Prevent e-ID Lockout

Important:  Please close all applications before changing your JMU e-ID password through the Accounts Portal.  Once your password has been changed, please restart all computers attached to the JMU network (wired and wireless). This will ensure that your applications will not try to use your previously stored e-ID password and lock you out of your applications that use your JMU e-ID and password for authentication.

After you change your JMU e-ID password, log back into your computer(s) and immediately change your password  in all of the following applications that you use  to prevent your JMU e-ID password from being locked out:

Novell Netware Users - Novell Netware clients on Windows computers not attached to the JMU Active Directory (JMUAD) domain

Outlook 2007 Users  - Outlook 2007 IMAP clients attached to JMU's central Mirapoint email system

Outlook 2003 Users  - Outlook 2003 IMAP clients attached to JMU's central Mirapoint email system

Outlook and Oracle Calendar Sync Users

PDA (Palm) and Oracle Calendar Sync Users

Smartphones (Treos) Versamail email Users - Versamail IMAP clients attached to JMU's central Mirapoint email system or outside e-mail servers

Novell Netware -  Novell Netware clients on Windows computers not attached to the JMU Active Directory (JMUAD) domain
If you sync your Novell Netware login (which is your JMU e-ID password) with your Windows password, you will be prompted for a windows password when you change your JMU e-ID password (this does not occur on computers that are part of the JMU Active Directory Domain).

1. After you change your JMU e-ID password, restart your computer

2. Login to Novell Netware with your JMU e-ID and new e-ID password

3. A Windows password box is displayed. Type your JMU e-ID and old JMU e-ID password and click the box to synch your Windows password with your Novell Netware password. The next time you login to Novell, you will not be prompted for a Windows password.
