JMU Official Wireless Support
This service assists students, faculty and staff in accessing the JMU Official Wireless network.
Students
Service Covers:
- Support for JMU Official Wireless network connectivity on compatible personally-owned computers and mobile devices (note: not all devices are compatible with the JMU Official wireless network)
Service Does Not Cover:
- Personally-owned wireless router and hubs or gaming devices/consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.)
Student Responsibility:
- Ensure computer meets minimum computer configurations
- Keep operating system and spyware removal tools updated
- Use Symantec Anti-Virus software - available on the Computing downloads site http://www.jmu.edu/computing/downloads
- Contact the Computing HelpDesk at 540-568-3555 or e-mail helpdesk@jmu.edu for assistance and/or authorization to drop-off computer for service
- Provide a phone number where you can be reached
- Backup personal files (music, data, etc.) if authorized to drop-off computer for service
- Check e-mail frequently for responses from technicians
Service Turnaround Expectations
- Information Technology strives to resolve wireless connectivity issues within three business days. Many variables can influence turnaround time, such as high-volume periods (the start of a semester) and diagnostic time.
Faculty and Staff
Service Covers:
- Support for JMU Official Wireless network connectivity issues on JMU-owned computers and JMU-owned mobile devices.
Faculty and Staff Responsibility
- Contact the Computing HelpDesk at (540) 568-3555 or online for assistance
- Provide ESN of JMU-owned computer
