Under "Returning Applicants" click on "Go to your Application".
Under "Freshman Application" click on "Application for Freshman Admission".
Log in with your ApplyWeb username and password.
Upon successful submission of our application, you should receive an email with the subject of: "James Madison University Application," confirming receipt of your online application.
How do I activate my e-ID?
Typically two business days after submitting your application, you will receive an email from: "email@example.com" with the subject of: "James Madison University Applicant Account" containing instructions on activating your JMU e-ID. This timeframe may be extended during periods of high volume.
Click the purple banner (your unique activation link) at the bottom of the email.
You will be directed to a login page which prompts for your Last Name and PIN (you provided your 4-digit PIN on your application. See FAQ below for more information about PIN retrieval.) If you receive an error message see below.
Enter your Last Name and PIN, and click continue.
You will proceed through a series of screens that will include the following steps:
JMU Security Awareness Training.
Enrollment in JMU's Password Management System: Setup of Security Questions and One Time Password.
Set your JMU e-ID password.
Verify your One Time Password option.
After successfully setting a password, you will be able to log into https://mymadison.jmu.edu with your e-ID and newly created password.
I need a new activation link/ I did not activate before the deadline.
If you do not activate before the deadline, you will receive an error message when you click on the activation link that says, "An error has occurred! Possible errors are…"
To request a new activation link, visit the Applicant Self-Service page and click "Get a new activation link." The link will be emailed to the address on file with the Admissions Office.
You will need your JMU PIN to be able to request a new activation link. See FAQ below for assistance with JMU PIN.
If you do not receive a new link, contact the Information Technology Help Desk at 540-568-3555 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
What is my JMU PIN?
Your PIN is a 4-digit number you provided on your application.
If you have forgotten your JMU PIN, you can visit the Applicant Self-Service page and click the "Find my JMU PIN" link to have it emailed to you.
A second method for finding your JMU PIN is to log back into ApplyWeb and navigate to page two of your application.
If you are still unable to retrieve your JMU PIN, contact the IT Help Desk at 540-568-3555 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.
Your PIN is considered sensitive information and will only be provided after verification of identity.
What is my e-ID?
Your e-ID is different from your ApplyWeb username.
Your e-ID is 8 characters or less and may contain a number - typically the first six letters of your last name, followed by your first and middle initial. For instance Dolley Payne Madison would be madisodp.
If you are unsure of your e-ID, you can visit the Applicant Self-Service page and click the "Find my e-ID" link to have it emailed to you.
