About tracking when messages are delivered or read Show All

You can track when messages you send are delivered or read by recipients. You receive a message notification as each message is delivered or read. The contents of the message notifications are then automatically recorded on the Tracking tab of the original message in your Sent Items folder. You can automatically delete message notifications in your message list (message list: The middle part of the main Outlook window that displays the contents of the selected folder).

The new version of the software will leave the "look and feel" of Webmail largely unchanged, however, there are three new features that will be available after the upgrade is complete:

  1. Viewing departmental folders within Webmail – the new version of the e-mail software will enable viewing of departmental folders from within Webmail. Previously, departmental folders were only viewable by using an IMAP e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Read receipts – when sending a message, you can request a read receipt. When the recipient reads the message, they will be presented with the option of sending back an automatic e-mail message to the sender that the message has been read. This option is only guaranteed to work within the JMU e-mail system as other e-mail systems may not process read receipts.
  3. Delivery receipts – when sending a message, you can request a delivery receipt. When the message is successfully delivered to the recipient’s Inbox, the system will automatically e-mail the sender a delivery receipt message. This option is only guaranteed to work within the JMU e-mail system as other e-mail systems may not process delivery receipts.
