Macintosh OS X IP Renew Directions




 

Renewing an IP address on OS X v. 10.3

  1. From the apple menu, select System Preferences and click on the Network control panel.
  2. From the Show pull-down menu, select Built-in Ethernet and click on the TCP/IP tab.
  3. Click Renew DHCP Lease. This should renew the computer's IP address immediately to 134.126.xxx.xxx. If it does not, take note of the incorrect IP address.


Renewing an IP address on OS X v. 10.2

  1. From the apple menu, select System Preferences and click on the Network control panel.
  2. From the Show pull-down menu, select Built-in Ethernet and click on the TCP/IP tab.
  3. Type the number 1 into the DHCP Client ID box.

  4. Click Apply Now. This will force the computer to search for a new IP address.
  5. Delete the 1 that you typed.
  6. Click Apply Now again. This should renew the computer's IP address to 134.126.xxx.xxx. If it does not, take note of the incorrect IP address.
