You should choose courses at your current school that satisfy specific general education AND major requirements at JMU. Use the list of equivalent courses in this major for course guidance so you can prepare for the portfolio review that will be part of your transfer application process.

In addition, to be considered a competitive student for admission, you should have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and successfully completed college course work in these core subject areas: English, mathematics, social science and lab science.

If you are hoping to complete an associate degree prior to transfer, you should anticipate three years at JMU to complete the B.F.A. Students who are interested in a 2-year + 2-year pathway from an associate to a bachelor’s degree can elect to complete the B.A. or B.S. in Art Studio. View the B.A./B.S. Art Studio Transfer Guide.
