JMU offers also offers a Bachelor of Individualized Study (B.I.S.) with a concentration in Elementary Education. Current instructional assistants working in a school system who have earned or are working toward a transferable associate degree may be eligible to pursue the online B.I.S. degree to prepare for a PK-6th grade Virginia teaching license.
