Randy Arrington has spent nearly four decades practicing journalism. From his start in radio at 18 to his transition to print, he worked his way up from sports writer, to assistant editor, editor, general manager, and publisher across several stops with media companies in Virginia and North Carolina. Most recently, he spent nearly 15 years managing four award-winning weekly newspapers in the northern Shenandoah Valley from 2006-2020. He then launched his own "digital newspaper" serving Page County, Va., which he still manages as publisher. He has won dozens of awards from the Virginia Press Association for writing, design, photography and editorial leadership, as well as serving on various VPA committees. In 2024, he helped lead a successful fight in the Virginia General Assembly by online editors to gain authority through the courts as "papers of record" to publish Public Notices (previously mandated by state law to only print newspapers).

He teaches Advanced Reporting and Writing (SMAD 310).
