Outcome(s):
Organizational Probation (through the end of the Spring 2027 semester): Outcomes may include suspension or expulsion from JMU and/or removal from all university housing if found responsible, in a future case, for another violation of Endangerment or Hazing policy.
Leadership Coaching (through the end of the Spring 2027 semester): The President must schedule and attend organizational development meetings with an individual approved by the Office of Student Accountability & Restorative Practices. During these meetings, the President (and any other executive leaders who attend) will receive additional support on the following topics: organizational culture change, hosting safe bonding/social activities, organizational risk management and bystander intervention strategies, maintenance of new member activities free of alcohol and hazing, and additional support for completing headquarters-assigned outcomes.
Reminder of Assigned Outcome from Sigma Nu Headquarters (during the Fall 2026 semester; during the Spring 2027 semester): The chapter is required to conduct a pilgrimage for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 candidate classes to the Sigma Nu Headquarters campus in Lexington, Virginia.
Reminder of Assigned Outcome from Sigma Nu Headquarters (by September 4, 2026): All chapter members must participate in Phase I: Session 5: Risk Reduction of Sigma Nu’s LEAD Program. The session must be delivered by an alumnus volunteer, a campus staff or faculty member, or a member of the General Fraternity staff.
Reminder of Assigned Outcome from Sigma Nu Headquarters (by September 4, 2026): The Risk Reduction Chairman and his committee are responsible for the development of a Principles Congruent Environments Action Plan, outlining the chapter’s strategy for risk management and prevention as well as maintaining compliance with the Fraternity’s Risk Reduction Policy and the applicable policies and expectations of the campus and Interfraternity Council.

The Action Plan must include candidate and member expectations, the requirements for initiation, clear rules regarding member treatment of candidates, and a complete schedule of events. The chapter’s plan should document the chapter’s implementation of LEAD Phase I.
Reminder of Assigned Outcome from Sigma Nu Headquarters (by September 18, 2026): Following the completion of the Candidate Development Action Plan, the chapter will apply the Action Plan to develop a written candidate development program. This program will be used to educate future candidate classes and should be based entirely on Phase I of the Fraternity’s LEAD Program.
Reminder of Assigned Outcome from Sigma Nu Headquarters (by September 18, 2026): At least 90% of the chapter’s collegiate membership must complete Highwire, a unique online alcohol education course.
