All Classified, AP Faculty, and Full - Time Instructional Faculty are eligible for the following
The university offers a retirement plan to faculty and staff. Classified employees are automatically enrolled in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) on their first day of employment. Faculty will have the choice between VRS or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP).
Faculty may choose between the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) or the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). You have 60 days to make this irrevocable decision or you will automatically default.
Classified employees hired January 1, 2014 or later are automatically enrolled in the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan; unless you are a deferred member. Deferred members that left state employment but have not withdrawn funds and have service credit in VRS will return to the retirement plan.
