Open Enrollment Period for Health Insurance and Flexible Spending Accounts
May 1 – May 15, 2017

The 2017 Open Enrollment period will present monthly premium changes, as well as the addition of LiveHealth Online Psychology and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) resources for COVA Care and COVA HDHP enrollees, an increase to the maximum Health FSA contribution limit, and a change to the Premium Rewards enrollment requirement.

The Spring 2017 Spotlight on Your Benefits will be mailed to home addresses. You may also access Open Enrollment information through the Department of Human Resource Management web page. Submit your elections by close of business on May 15th via the Health Benefits Enrollment/Waiver Form. Prior to completing the Enrollment/Waiver form, please reference these instructions for further information.

Open Enrollment Overview Video
To assist you through the Open Enrollment process, Human Resources is pleased to provide you with an Open Enrollment Overview Video. This video is designed to detail your election choices during Open Enrollment, outline health insurance plans, and explain available options to you.  This format allows you to review this information at your convenience and at your pace. Please feel free to show this video at team meetings and department gatherings.

Enrollment Form
EmployeeDirect will not be available for use during this Open Enrollment period. In order to submit health plan and FLEX changes and enrollments, employees will need to complete a fillable Health Benefits Enrollment/Waiver Form and submit to Human Resources. The form may be dropped off at Human Resources, emailed to benefits@jmu.edu, faxed to 540-568-7916, sent via intercampus mail to MSC 7009, or mailed to 752 Ott Street MSC 7009, Harrisonburg, VA 22807 by close of business on May 15th. Please note that you will need to provide your State ID# (numbers, not letters) that appears on your insurance card (not your JMU ID#) at the top of your enrollment form.

Please review your July 16 pay advice to ensure your deductions are correct. Call a member of the Benefits Team at 540-568-3593 immediately if anything is incorrect.

Ask ALEX for Advice
Evaluate and compare health plan options with ALEX, your online benefits counselor! ALEX will use your input to let you know how the different health insurance plans work for you. Visit https://www.myalex.com/cova/2017.

Increased Health FSA Contribution Limit
New for this plan year, the maximum Health FSA contribution limit has increased to $2,600 per plan year. As a reminder you must re-enroll each year to continue participating in flexible spending accounts. Register online after July 1 at www.benefitadminsolutions.com/anthem to manage your account online and keep track of all your transactions, including those needing additional documentation. Once you have set up your unique login information, you can check your account balance, submit online reimbursement requests, keep up with card purchases, and more! Earn Rewards to Reduce Your Monthly Premium!
Employees enrolled in or participating in COVA Care or COVA HealthAware and their enrolled spouses can save on monthly premiums while taking a step toward better health with premium rewards. It’s as simple as completing an online health assessment and answering a few questions about your health and lifestyle. You may receive a $17/month reduction in your premium if you or your enrolled spouse participate, or a $34/month reduction in your premium if both you and your enrolled spouse participate. To earn a reward beginning July 1, 2017 or to continue earning your reward without interruption, visit www.myactivehealth.com/cova to complete or update your online health assessment between May 1 and May 15, 2017. To earn a reward after July 1, 2017, complete a health assessment by the 15th of the month, and you will receive a reward in about six to eight weeks.

Aflac
Michael Glover, JMU's Aflac representative, will be in the Wine-Price Building during open enrollment so you may add, change, or cancel coverage. You may also email him directly at michael_glover@us.aflac.com. Michael will be on campus at the following times:

Please be aware that the university will be closing at 1pm on Friday, May 5th and Human Resources will be observing the modified summer schedule and will close at Noon on Friday, May 12th.
