Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

Required by Program
  • Two letters of recommendation - from relevant school personnel familiar with your teaching performance and leadership potential
  • Professional resume
  • Personal statement - Why do you want to earn a M.Ed. in Literacy?
  • Undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 or higher preferred
  • Valid teaching license
  • GRE General Test is optional/not required.
  • Applicants may be asked to complete an interview

The Literacy Education program does not qualify for a student visa.
