Suzanne McCahill Perrine joined James Madison University’s Center for Global Engagement in December 2025 as Assistant to the Executive Director. She is excited to be part of the CGE team and to support its mission to broaden worldviews and promote global understanding for the JMU community by cultivating, facilitating, and supporting global engagement at home and abroad.

Suzanne earned degrees in Art History and Dance from the University of Maryland and spent several years living in New York City before moving to the Shenandoah Valley with her husband, a JMU alumnus. After arriving in Harrisonburg, she taught ballet at JMU and performed with the dance department before opening The Center Yoga.

For 17 years, Suzanne owned and directed The Center Yoga, where she managed a large and diverse teaching staff, oversaw scheduling and operations, created and led teacher training programs, and coordinated events with guest teachers from around the globe. Her love of teaching, traveling with her family, and creating meaningful experiences eventually led her to guide international yoga retreats, bringing her to more than 13 countries. These experiences shaped her deep appreciation for cultural exchange and the powerful ways global experiences broaden perspective and build connection.
Suzanne values collaboration, creativity, and being part of a supportive, engaged, and dynamic team. Outside of CGE, she enjoys teaching yoga, time in nature, cooking with her husband, and visiting her two grown children who are living and thriving in New York City.
