3. Talk to your supervisor and Email Governance Committee representative.

   • If approved, complete the Marketing Cloud User Access Request Form, which will inform you of next steps for training and your role/permissions within Marketing Cloud.

4. Complete Marketing Cloud User Training:

All campus partners are required to submit an Email Submission Form before proceeding with the creation and distribution of emails associated with James Madison University.

Current Students

• All email communications directed toward all students are rolled up to Dukes News. To avoid a denial on your submission form and delayed message distribution, please submit your content via the Dukes News Request Form.

Faculty/Staff

• All email communications directed toward all faculty/staff are rolled up to Inside JMU. To avoid a denial on your submission form and delayed message distribution, please submit your content via the Inside JMU Submission Form.

External Audiences (ie. parents, alumni, donors, community members)

• Emails to external audiences are sent through the Advancement Business Unit of Marketing Cloud. Email creators must complete training with Business Applications.
• The Email Submission form is required for campus partners before building your email.
• Philanthropy & Engagement emails are pre-approved for donors, alumni, and community members—not employees. 
• Undergraduate Admissions emails are pre-approved for prospective students and applicants. 
• The Email Submission form is still required for tracking and volume control.

Combination Audiences (ie. internal and external audiences)

• Emails to combination audiences may require coordination between more than one Business Unit. These permissions were granted based on information submitted via the Marketing Cloud User Access request form.  
• If your department does not have an email sender, assigned email senders will connect with the designated content creator.
• The Email Submission form is required before building your email.
