JMU’s finance program has earned a spot on the 2020 Best Colleges list compiled by GradReports. The program is No. 20 on the nationwide list of schools, based on median early-career salary of over 5 million graduates.

- The JMU Banking Team recently took 2nd place in the nationwide 2020 Community Bank Case Study Competition, sponsored by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS).
- Professor Carl Larsson received the 2020 Distinguished Teacher Award for the JMU College of Business, bestowed annually by the provost.
- Professor Brack Collier was selected as the recipient of the 2019 Otto C. Brenner Award, bestowed annually for outstanding teaching by juniors and seniors in the College of Business.
- Professor Elias Semaan was selected as the recipient of the 2019 Otto C. Brenner Award.
- Professor Jason Fink received the 2019 Distinguished Service Award, given by the provost for outstanding service to the local community.
- Student-run Madison Investment Fund won the Core Portfolio Competition at Quinnipiac University’s 2019 Global Asset Management Education (G.A.M.E.) IX Forum.
- The finance program is a CFA University Affiliate.
- Finance alumnus Justin Quaglia (’11) was given the 2020 Gold Network Young Alumni Award from the JMU Alumni Association.
