Lori Patton is the Administrative Assistant in the Dean’s office within the College of Arts and Letters, where she provides administrative support to the Dean and Associate Deans of the college, serves as office manager, and oversees the college budget planning, purchasing, and monitoring as well as the Staff Advisory Committee and commencement. Lori started her career with James Madison University in September 2017, and brings over 25 years of experience working in the private sector to include the Banking industry as well as in Education.
Lori and her husband Bart have 2 exceptional adult children and one beautiful granddaughter. Lori enjoys all kinds of gardening (herbs especially), journaling, photography, hiking, travel, genealogy, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Key Portfolio Areas
- Maintain Dean’s calendar
- Manage CAL budget; review purchasing, track spending, assist units with budget questions; supervise CAL fiscal technician
- Submit ePARs for CAL hires and MOUs
- Reviews all ePARs submitted across the college
- Review Travel support and Chrome River requests
- Assists with all reporting for Provost’s office (budget planning, ETF, Adjunct requests, etc.)
- Assist with preparing tenure and promotion files for provost’s office
- Take minutes at Executive Committee meetings
- Chair the Harrison Hall Building Safety committee
- Assist with all CAL event logistics when needed
- Liaise with departments as needed for reporting and information sharing
- Assist with communications as needed
- Review Summer/Winter payrolls and submit for Dean approval
- Schedule CAL classes in SA
- Office Management (Record retention, equipment, fixed assets)
- Member, CAL Staff Advisory Committee
- Member, Dean’s Administrative Assistant Committee
- Member, Academic Affairs Change Champions Team
