Becca Evans is a Double Duke who earned her BA ('18) and MA ('20) in Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication. Her research focused on studying and improving accessibility in digital publications through podcasts and transcripts, coding, content warnings, and more.

She joined the dean’s office in 2021, where she oversees the college communication and branding strategies, manages the college social media accounts, writes news stories and email newsletters, and handles event promotion.

  • Consultant for departments and units on communications and marketing topics 
  • Produce Arts and Letters Review — (to include writing, editing, and print design)
  • Write articles about faculty/staff/alumni for print and web publication   
  • Manage email newsletter and listserv for faculty, staff, alumni, and students 
  • Maintain and manage College of Arts and Letters website
  • Design print and digital materials for college (programs, signage, postcards, graphics, flyers, etc.) 
  • Supervise communications and marketing interns  
  • Member, Academic Recruitment Marketing Committee, representing college recruitment interests and disseminating information 
  • Member, JMU Social Media Community of Practice 
  • Member, JMU Communications Council 
  • Member, JMU Technology Coordinators 
  • Liaison with Office of Annual Giving for Giving Day Communications 
  • Liaison with Media Relations and University Marketing and Branding for faculty pitches/projects
