Research Description

We are currently in the process of describing a salt-resistant phenotype of the developing root in seedlings of STP1 k/o plant.  Our hypothesis is that STP1 plays a role in regulating the osmotic balance in the developing root.  In addition, we show that the response of the STP1 mutant to osmotic stress induced by salt is distinct from the response to high concentrations of sugar. Projects in my lab include the study of gene expression patterns to identify relevant metabolic/signaling pathways and morphological characterization of the developing roots of the STP1 knockout plant.
